While the TSP (Thrift Savings Plan) provides a basic plan for Federal Employees. FEGLI stands for Federal Employee Group Life Insurance and is available as a benefit to Federal and Postal Employees. It provides basic coverages at a lower cost, but the death benefits are generally very low. If you own a home, have a spouse and family, the payout will not provide enough for your family to cover living expenses in the event of your untimely death.
